The talking heads documentary gets a remarkable makeover in Regretters, winner of the Prix Europa Best Documentary at Berlin 2010. Orlando and Mikael meet for the first time opposite one another in the studio, and together they share their defining regret – their decision to undertake binary sex-reassignment from male to female. Androgynous dandy Orlando matter-of-factly recounts his experiences, sometimes to the surprise and bewilderment of Mikael, who is less comfortable in his still-female body and wishes to be male again. Their frank discussion twists and turns through a range of compelling revelations, as it gradually becomes clear that while they share an emotional journey, life has played out very differently for each of them.
